How to Play
The rules take under a minute to learn:
- Match two identical free tiles. Tap one free tile, then tap its matching twin. Both disappear.
- A tile is "free" when it can slide out. Nothing may sit on top of it, and at least one side — left or right — must be open.
- Clear the tiles above to reach the ones below. Removing tiles opens up new free tiles underneath and beside them.
- Flowers and seasons are wild. Any flower matches any other flower, and any season matches any other season — they don't have to be identical.
- Clear every tile to win. Use Hint to reveal a valid pair, Shuffle if you run out of moves, Undo to step back, and pinch or the ➕ ➖ buttons to zoom in on the tiles.
Tips & Strategy
Mahjong Solitaire rewards looking ahead. A few habits win far more boards:
- Free the most-blocked tiles first. Tiles buried deep or locked on both sides are the real bottleneck. Prioritise moves that open them up.
- Think before you clear a matching pair. Just because two tiles match now doesn't mean you should remove them — you may need one to unlock a tile later.
- Keep an eye on all four copies. Most tiles come in four. If three are still buried, matching the two you can reach may strand the other two.
- Work the top pieces and long rows. The single top tile and the ends of long rows unlock the most beneath them.
- Use Hint to learn, not to lean. A hint shows one legal pair, but scan for a better move that opens more of the board.
- Shuffle is a reset, not a failure. If no free pairs remain, Shuffle rearranges the rest so you can keep going.
